  1. To know the composition of the atmosphere.
  2. To know the layers the atmosphere is divided into and their main characteristics.
  3. To differentiate between weather and climate.
  4. To know the factors that determine the climate of a region.
  5. To know the name of the most important meteorological instruments and what they are used for.
  6. To explain the concept of atmospheric pressure and how it varies in the atmosphere.
  7. To explain how the wind is formed.
  8. To explain how the clouds and the precipitations are formed.
  9. To differentiate between rain, hail and snow.
  10. To explain the functions of the atmosphere and its role in maintaining conditions which are apt for life.
  11. To explain how the greenhouse effect is produced.
  12. To know the different types of atmospheric pollutants and their effects on living things and the environment.
  13. To know the meaning of: isobar, anticyclone, low pressure area, cold front and hot front and to recognize these elements in a weather map.
